Friday 1st September
Met Kirsten (the music teacher from Torsted school). She said that the project had not only been a real success but also she would like to talk with me about how this style of music making could be carried on in the school.
She was not sure if the school's head teacher would allow such a music class to happen within the normally allocated
classroom time. He had, however, been at the concert, and so maybe there was a chance that he might have been won over by the performance.
We discussed the idea that the group could be continued as an extra-curricular activity, held after school, perhaps for one hour every week.
Kirsten was a little unconfident as to whether she would be able to do it by herself, but I think that I convinced her that she would be
more than able, especially now that the students had developed the necessary skills to manage themselves
as a musical unit.
Within the group,
some natural 'leaders' had evolved
such as Trina and Mads, and so I spoke with Kirsten about the idea that even if she didn't feel completely confident, then I was sure that these two students would be
capable of directing the music making, with a little help from herself. To further encourage her, I mentioned that she could also correspond with me via Email so that I could offer a sort of on-line support, suggesting ideas and generally helping with advice.
She seemed happy with this.
