Sun 27th August
Three O' Clock meeting at the Art Gallery in town where the Bjorn Nørgaard
glass-frieze is currently on display. At the gathering was Ebbe Hoyrup (the project organiser from Levende Musik i Skolen), Kirsten
Johnsen (the music teacher from Torsted School), my two guest musicians who had been assigned to the project (Henrik the pianist and Helene the 'cellist) and another interested musician (a jazz pianist also called
Henrik).
We ran through the project details together, with me explaining about the
processes that I would probably use and highlighting some of the practicalities that would have to be dealt with during the following few days.
We then went upstairs to see the work of art that the project was going to be based upon (Bjorn Nørgaard's 'Jeg Gik Mig Over Sø Og Land').
Helpfully, Kirsten had done some preparation work on
the picture and explained to us (from the artist's own notes) the key to interpreting the
work. I then outlined some possible musical interpretations of the piece in order that they might get an idea as to what the next few days
might produce.
