Tue 6th March     (Session 4)

am   9.15 - 12.00    SALTWOOD PS

We began the session by running through the composition so far, and then rehearsing each section from the beginning through to the end.  As we rehearsed each section we enlarged some of the ideas to include more students and make the overall sound richer.

When we got to the 'end' of the piece, we worked out a proper ending.  Two new ideas were used for this.  When they were placed, we also worked the two ideas into the main body of the music, so they would make more sense.  There was then time to run through the piece in full a couple of times, before I recorded them.

pm   1.00 - 3.15     ST LEONARD'S PS

We began the session by running through the students' music: section by section, making sure that everyone knew what was happening and when.  When we reached the end of one section, we would begin the piece again and then work through to the following section.

For the end of the composition we decided to use a heartbeat idea which had come out of yesterday's session and employ this to finish the piece with a quieter sinister atmosphere rather than just a loud bang.  We thought that every group would probably end their music with a loud bang of some sort, and so to make our music more effective we'd do something different.

Rosemary Dunn came along to the end of this session and we played her the complete composition with her commenting afterwards on what she thought.
